Numerical modeling of tidal currents in Bushehr bay

Details are given herein for numerical modeling study of Bushehr bay, which emphasis prediction of physical behavior of the region. Bushehr is one of the important political and economical ports in Iran coastline. Having a serious sedimentation problem in this bay, modeling and studies an this region was planned. A horizontal two-demensional numerical model used in which a finite difference method an a structured grid is deployed. A regional and intermediate coarse grid model have been used to estimate a proper value for boundary condition in local model. Noticing yje large area for modeling (including Persian Gulf and two other models) calibration has a special importance. Field measurements have been used for calibrating of hydrodynamic parameters such as water level and speed. Comparison between measurements and modeling results implies a good agreement.
