Assessing the strategic thinking for managers of Automobile companies in Tehran and predicting it based on Gardner s Multiple Intelligences

Background and Objectives: Strategic thinking increases the effectiveness and survival of strategic issues by combining logical and convergent approaches with creative and divergent thinking processes. Theoretically, various theories have been linked with multiple intelligences. This research was designed to predict strategic thinking and its components based on multiple intelligences.Method: The statistical population consists of all managers working in Tehran automobile companies. They were selected by random sampling method from two companies. 67 of them were randomly selected as the statistical sample. Then Gardner multiple thinking and intelligence questionnaires were implemented on them.Findings: The analysis of the findings showed that interpersonal intelligence and intrinsic intelligence predict the level of strategic thinking in managers; interpersonal intelligence is related to decision-making capability and decision-making based on hypothesis-making, creativity, and various mental models. Logical- math intelligence was found to predict the component of the position-understanding based on learning and cognitive concepts and the future imagination. The findings also demonstrated that the visual-space intelligence is a smart opportunity component with a systemic perspective.Conclusion: Managers with strategic thinking have intra and interpersonal intelligence because features such as interaction with others and strong understanding, skills in measuring emotions, motivations, desires and the meanings of others, awareness of emotional state, feelings and motivations are necessary for explaining the features of strategic thinking.
