Lifestyle of elderly people of Isfahan’s villages in Iran in 2014

Aging is a process gradual erosion of physiological mechanisms. In addition ageing all aspects of life, including thelife style of people affected. Due to the increasing number of elderly people and making lifestyle changes to industriallife. This study was to aim evaluate the lifestyle of elderly’s living in villages of Isfahan, Iran.Methods:The method used was interviews based on questionnaires on life style to a sample of 200 elderly above the age of 65,50% male, who visited randomly selected rural health centers in 2014. The questionnaire included Iranian elderlyquestionnaire was used. Data was analyzed using frequency, mean, Pearson correlation coefficient, one-way ANOVA,Tukey and independent sample t test through SPSS software.Results:The total mean score of lifestyle of elderlies living in villages was 148.91 ± 11. The mean score of preventiondimension was 56.4 ± 5.68, leisure dimension was 13.37 ± 3.38, nutrition dimension was 43.67 ± 5.33, stressdimension was 13.81 ± 2.54 and communication dimension was 25.78 ± 3.7. There was a significant relation betweenfavorable life style and education, living conditions and comorbid diseases.Conclusions:Social factors and education should be in focus promoting a healthy life style among older persons in Iran.
