The Effectiveness of Teaching Internal Control Psychology Based onCommunication Skills in Decreasing Marital Dissatisfaction

The aim of the present research is to examine the effectiveness of teaching internal controlpsychology-based communication skills in decreasing marital dissatisfaction. This researchwas analyzed by pretest- posttest with control group experimental method. Statisticalpopulation of this research includes 350 married students of Farhangiyan university of Babol.To determine the sample, initially 350 questionnaires of Rotter's locus of control andSpanier's marital adjustment were distributed among the married students. Althoughoriginally almost 350 questionnaires were distributed by the researcher, 244 were returned,and 200 questionnaires were appropriate for analysis. Among this population, 47 couples bothhad external locus of control and suffered marital maladjustment, 20 couples were selected bysimple randomized method and were placed into two experimental and control groups, suchthat 10 couples were placed in the experimental group and 10 couples were placed in controlgroup. Results indicated that, the teaching intervention based on internal locus of controlmodel was effective on increasing marital satisfaction, cohesion, affection expression andmarital adjustment in experimental group. Therefore, teaching intervention based on internalcontrol psychology can be used as one of the intervention models for couples who suffer frommarital dissatisfaction and think of divorce.
