A Summary of Distributed Generation Effects on Distribution Network Protection

Distribution systems are designed to optimize the delivery of electric power in one direction. The installation of distributed generation (DG) units with significant capacity will result in some conflicts with the operation of the protective system. In this paper, selected sets of conflicts are described. Then, an extensive review of different conflicts found in the literature is presented. The goal is to offer a guide for those interested in the problem, or intending to do additional research in the area.
