چکیده مقاله:
There is a considerable increase in exploiting renewable energy resources in generating electrical energy during past 20 years. One of these renewable energy resources is wind power. Wind power turns into electrical power by the means of a wind turbo generator. This flaw is compounded in the cases of taking error in the grid, changes in the direction and magnitude of wind and so on, which in turn cause the generation of unfavorable electrical voltage and current harmonic waves, especially when high-voltage electrical equipment are used in the facility. In case generators go off the grid, a reduction in power generation will be experienced. Nowadays, employing high voltage electronic equipment in promoting the efficiency due to their vast domain of control and fast functioning, has gained popularity. UPFC, SSSC and STATCOM are the examples of the such equipment which are categorized under the FACTS equipment category. The grid which are the subject of our investigation and experiments, are provided in MATLAB application. The software operates in the process of compensating for the loss of power in a connected wind power plant, by making use of a STATCOM. The goal here is to investigate the substitution of STATCOM by a UPFC, in order to improve power generation. In case there is no mechanism of compensation designed in this grid, power generation in this wind power plant will decrease if an error happens. In the case of employing a STATCOM which is suggested by the MATLAB, the power generation of the wind power plant remains intact. If a UPFC is used in the system, not only there would be no change in the power generation, but also there will be less voltage dissipation in short circuits
