Critiques of Materials Development in Iranian EFL Context: Tomlinson s Approach

Contrary to McDonough, Shaw and Masuhara s (2013) perspective based on which the principles of materials development include fixed concepts in the design of materials and methods, teaching language skills, and aspects of classroom methods, Tomlinson s (2013) approach emphasizes the teacher s authority and flexibility in developing and implementing the required materials. The present study aimed to highlight the critiques of materials development in Iranian EFL context on the basis of Tomlinson s approach. Likewise, highlighting the right path to EFL students creativity and providing EFL teachers with a contemporary account of major trends in English language teaching (ELT) materials and methodology were taken into account.
