Landslides susceptibility mapping as a tool for sustainable development (Case Study: Taleghan Watershed)

Landslide is a natural disaster that can result in enormous property damages and human casualties. In this research, in order to identify areas prone to landslides in Taleghan watershed, landslide susceptibility map has been prepared. For this purpose, landslides inventory map and maps of effective factors including land use, vegetation density, lithology, distance from faults, DEM, slope, aspect, plan curvature, distance from rivers, distance from roads, rainfall and temperature are prepared by use of GIS and RS Techniques, topographic maps and field study. Using multiple regression models, the relationship between the factors and the landslides were calculated and landslides susceptibility map was prepared. This map can be used as basic data to assist slope management and land-use planning in order to achieving sustainable development.
