A Study of Some Architectural Elements in Dwelling of the Historical Area of Isfahan

The present study aims to examine a link between traditional and new (modern) principles in architecture, and eventually offer appropriate standards in the human environment, with help of restoring the traditional, local, and regional concepts of architecture. In this study the housing issue is considered as one of the most essential human requirements. First, an extensive field study was undertaken by conducting literature review of historical studies and the past experiences on Isfahan’ architecture, in general, and also Pa’Ghale district (as a place with rich historical experiences over various era), in particular. Then, some relevant architectural design tests were carried out to examine the hidden aspects of the subject. Pa’Ghale is surrounded by few places which are considered as symbols of identity and urbanization culture of Isfahan, namely Cheshme Bagherkhan, Angoorestan-Malik, Masjid Malik (which bear different derivatives). According to the literature review studies, tests and geographical neighbouring of Pa’Ghale, some suggestions, from the architectural point of view, are presented and classified according to form and structure , spatial performance , and also considerations in which the two factors are both important. The results could lead to appropriate neighbourhood of contemporary and traditional architectures, and consequently reconciliation of mankind with past experiences. The proposed considerations could provide architectures which although have used new technologies, are not in confrontation of past experiences which deem them as the mother . Consequently, there will be benefit of being less necessary for mankind to be undertaken modernization test
