چکیده مقاله:
In recent years living walls have increasingly spread, thus becoming a diffuse architectural envelope cladding technology. The current technology involved in green wall systems can improve the functional benefits of plants to buildings performance and make a sustainable strategy of urban rehabilitation and buildings retrofitting. The building sector accounts for approximately 40% of total global energy usage. Energy consumption for space heating and cooling makes up 60% of the total consumed energy in buildings. Several researches have proved that green walls can enhance the contribution of thermal comfort and improve the energy saving potential of a building. Green walls are able to reduce the thermal load on buildings, requirement for mechanised air conditioning and mitigate urban heat islands. During last decades several experiments were carried out which show that the LWS has a notable cooling effect to the wall surface and the indoor space. Vertical Greenery Systems (VGS) are used as passive tool for energy savings in buildings, it can be concluded that VGS provide great potential in reducing energy consumption in buildings, especially in the cooling periods. On the other hand, Green facades have a voice absorption feature for this reason they perform to decrease voice function through providing a noise buffer which reduces outside noise. This paper aims to review current studies on thermal performances and energy consumption reduction through application of the living walls, also Main factors affecting thermal comfort and energy consumption reduction of living walls were highlighted. Furthermore Different types of Green Walls were presented in order to identify their main characteristics.
