Rereading the Sense of a Place in Tabriz Shahgholi Garden

The Persian garden is one of the best patterns of landscape designing with a glorious history by creation strong interaction between human with nature. The main discussion in these areas is phenomenon of the sense of place or place identity. Perceptible and meaningful places are suitable base that the personal memories, emotions and values depend on it. Spatial identity has an intimate connection with personal identity. This study paper classifies the historical garden principles for reaching a conceptual pattern by accessing to indicators which are forming sense of place in the historical Persian garden like Shahgoli Garden. The second stage of study is recognizing contemporary requirements and new facilities for creating modern public park and their power on shaping identity. There are a relationship between history, function, social meaning and visual quality for creation sense of a place.Key words: Sense of Place, Identity, Shahgholi
