Evaluation of effective parameters for sustainable development of Tourism

Tourism is not only one of the most climate-sensitive economic sectors, but also acontributor to climate change. The aim of this study is to assess the most relevantquantitative approaches to evaluate the effects of climate change on tourism. In recentyears, numerous empirical studies have conducted evaluations of this kind, based ondifferent methodologies and perspectives. The effects of climate change can evaluatethrough changes in physical conditions essential to tourism, Tourism Climate Indexes(TCI), Tourism Demand Models (Time Series Analysis, Discrete Choice Models, andAggregate Tourism Models), Multi-Criteria Decision Analysis, Life Cycle Assessment,and Physiologically equivalent temperature. This study assesses the impacts of climatechange on global tourism industry. Climate change will imply a loss of attractiveness fortraditional winter resorts and traditional warmer destinations worldwide. For destinationsin which conditions are projected to decline, increased investment in indoor amenitiesmay become increasingly necessary; where conditions are projected to improve, theprovision of adequate infrastructure to accommodate potential increases in visitation andimplementation of mechanisms to minimize the impacts of excess use may be moreimportant. Due to positive aspects of Iran like UNESCO-designated World Heritage sites,beautiful natural landscapes, archaeological mounds etc. and optimistic outlook (3% ofglobal tourism income), we have to evaluate parameters with proposed method forsustainable development of tourism sector in Iran in next years.
