چکیده مقاله:

In recent years, productivity of the building industry has been declined significantly compared to other industries. One of its main reasons is failure of building projects due to lack of coordination between the design and implementation teams. Building Information Modeling (BIM) improves cooperation among architects, engineers, and contractors, reduces duplications, and increases time, cost, and quality. BIM was introduced to the world since the beginning of the third millennium, and within a few years after that, expanded worldwide, including Middle East. In Iran, BIM is used in few projects only.Among the main reasons of non-realization of BIM in the construction industry in Iran, is low performance of human capital and organizational structures, which are considered as the most significant aspects of organizational maturity. This issue indicates low level of maturity of organizations and lack of implementing BIM technology in Iran. In order to take the most advantage from BIM, we should firstly be able to implement it in the organizations. Thus, identifying the effective factors on realization and implementation of BIM methodology can provide preventive measures to avoid projectfailure and puts them on the path to success. Therefore, this study highlights the significance of measuring maturity level of consulting engineers companies in applying BIM technology, through descriptive analysis of literature review. Maturity measurement models help organizations to reveal their capabilities and compare their projects and organizational programs with a specific and scientific standard. Since all countries of the world tends toward using this technology and making its usage compulsory, the output of measuring maturity can make companies’ decision making easier and faster for beginning or reinforcing usage and implementation of this technology and prepares them to join the global community.
