Noise Pollution Evaluation in Residential and Residential– Commercial Areas in Neyshabur in 2015

Background and purpose: Exposure to environmental noise from traffic is common in urban areas and has been linked to increased risks of adverse health effects including cardiovascular disease. Present study aimed to determine average sound level Index in overcrowded areas of Neyshabur, Iran. Materials and methods: The study being reported here has been carried out on one of the residential and comerical crowded streets in the downtown area of Neyshabur, located in west of Iran, which have heavy traffic during the day. After studying the location of the city of Neyshabur on passing vehicles, population density, establishment of business centers and housing for a month measure during the weekdays except holiday’s week 6 stations including (Imam Khomeini, Enghelab Square, Khayyam Square, Azadi Square, the crossroads Beasat and Attar Street) in the tree period, were measured. Noise measuring was done by using SVAN953. Data wereprocessed using SPSS software. Results: Leq was found to be in the tree period) morning, afternonT 125.8 dB (Max) and 80.2 dB (Min). Recorded maximum and minimum noise was 99.7 dB (at 7-9 o clock) and 34 dB (at 17-19 o clock), respectively. Conclusion: Comparing the findings of this study with standard scales indicates that Neyshabur is experiencing high noise pollution. Regarding the harmful effects of this environmental agent, more studies arerecommended to investigate causes of the noise pollution.
