Background and Aim: Diabete is one of the most important diseases in the world that affects all aspects of the lives of people. In 2011, 366 million people were affected by diabetes worldwide, and it is estimated that this figure will reach 552 million in 2030. The number of people with diabetes in Iran is estimated at more than 1.5 million.Disability, loss of quality of life, and death are the most serious consequences of diabetes. The present study survey effective factors on self-care in people with diabetes. Materials and Methods: In this review study, the keywords of, diabetes, self-care glycemic control were searched in pubmed, google scholar and SID through 2000 – 2017. The study aimed to investigate effective factors on self-care in people with diabetes. Results: 18000 article worked in this field that survey psychosocial and educational factors on self-care in people with diabetes. The essential self-care behaviors in people with diabetes which predict good outcomes namely healthy eating, being physically active, monitoring of blood sugar, compliant with medications, good problem-solving skills, healthy coping skills and risk-reduction behaviors. Most important factors influencing self-care diabetes includes interventions focused on behavior change، group counseling، self-management training، social support psychological interventions especially for depression and anxiety of these patients and high self-efficacy.Conclusion: The results of these studies indicate that increasing self-care in diabetics requires comprehensive work which takes all aspects of diabetes self-care. For example, increasing self-efficacy and social support can help people overcome perceived barriers to treatment diabete. And ultimately, all of this comprehensive care will increase the quality of life of these patients.
