چکیده مقاله:

Heat treatable aluminum alloys are widely used in the industry for different purposes. The mechanical properties of these alloys are determined through precipitation hardening phenomenon or more often called age hardening. The purpose of this paper is to provide an insight into the ultrasonic methodologies as a non-destructive evaluation (NDE) for characterization of precipitation hardening of aluminum alloys. Following a short introduction of ultrasonic principle, this paper reviews the studies done on the correlation between microstructural features, mechanical properties and ultrasonic parameters during aging treatment of these alloys. In short, it might be concluded that the ultrasonic techniques are rapid and promising as well as provides relevant contributions to an accurate characterization of materials and evaluation of their mechanical properties in a non-destructive manner.
