چکیده مقاله:
Background and Aim: Health staff spends much of their time at work place and faces many treats including unsuitable lifestyle and job strain. Job stress affects staff’s health. It decreases organizational efficiency and results in physical and mental disorders. With the aim to decline chronic diseases risk, this study assesses whether dietary pattern has any association with job stress. Methods: 121 women working in public health centers (PHCs) entered the study. Weight, height and waist circumference (WC) were reported by subjects. Self-administered food questionnaires were ranked based on Food Guide Pyramid and Karasek model was utilized to determine job strain. Results: The mean age of participants was 35.7 years and mean job stress was 16.4. Results showed that 54.4% of subjects had a high level of stress. WC and BMI were not associated with stress, but age (p= 0.03 , r=-0. 20 ) and work experience (p=0.0 2 , r=-0.23 ( had inverse associations with total score. According to Food Pyramid, less than half of health professionals consumed acceptable amount of dairy (35.6%), vegetables (26.5%), and cereals (18.1%). The intake of fruits (69.5%) and meat and alternatives (52.1%) were also relatively appropriate. There was an inverse link between WC and dairy (r= -0.031), fruits (r= -0.064), and meat (r= -0.084), also, BMI inversely was correlated with dairy (r= -0.072) and cereals (r= -0.019) consumption (p> 0.05).Conclusion: Job strain demonstrated no direct association with food guide pyramid recommendations and BMI. However, evaluation of other mediating factors can be a step forward to design and implement preventive health-based programs for health promotion among health professionals and decrease treatment expenditures.
