DAILY DIETARY INTAKE OF MERCURY, ARSENIC, COBALT BY TOTAL DIET STUDY (TDS) METHOD IN POPULATION OF SHIRAZ, 2016

Background and Aim: The estimation of mercury, cobalt and Nickel dietary intake with Total diet study (TDS) method in population of Shiraz Methods: Firstly, the number of 121 Samples were selected to conduce this study. Samples were purchased from 5 Shiraz area. After preparing the food in equal proportions, each Food Samples were weighted and mixed. In the next step, after acid digestion, mean of mercury, cobalt and nickel was measured by ICP-OES. Finally the dietary intake levels of these metals were obtained on consumed food and were calculated daily intake. Results: The results of this study showed that the average daily intake of mercury, cobalt and nickel in the diet of Shiraz population were 38.98, 5.98, 203.57 μg/day, respectively. The rate of mercury was 75.6% PTWI. The rate of cobalt and nickel 830.% MTDI and 56.4% TDI was , respectively.Conclusion: The estimated daily intakes of mercury was notably lower than the standard intakes. Moreover, the estimated dietary intakes of cobalt and nickel were well within the safe limits.
