چکیده مقاله:

Background and Aim: Citrulline is a non-essential amino acid and derived from watermelon that effects on improving glucose tolerance, lipid and energy metabolism have been shown. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of citrulline supplementation inflammatory factors and insulin resistance in patients with non-alcoholic fatty liver. Methods: : Fifty patients with NAFLD were randomly assigned to two groups that received either Citrulline or placebo. Patients received 4 capsule of 500 mg (Cit or placebo) daily. Both groups were advised to follow an energy-balanced diet and to be physically active.Inflammatorymarkers, HOMA,QUICKI ,anthropometric measurements and physical activity were assessed at baseline and at the end of the study. The SPSS 21 and, paired t-test, t-test and chi-2 were used for data analysis. Results: : No significant differences were observed for the monitored variables between the two groups at baseline. After treatment, the group consuming Cit supplementation showed a statistically significant decrease over the control group for inflammatory factors (p < 0.05). Conclusion: For investigated role of citrulline on the liver and protect it,will be needed to more study that different doses and periods of time are observe
