چکیده مقاله:

Background and Aim: : The number of elderly people in the world and also in Iran is increasing due to increased life expectancy and the need to pay attention to the nutritional status of this group in order to maintain the quality of life and health of the group is evident. Food security is one of the prerequisites for the health of the elderly. Dietary insecurity threatens public health and nutritional status, especially in the elderly. Therefore, given the growing population of the elderly, food security in this age group is of particular importance. Evidence suggests that many of the health consequences of food insecurity are likely to be due to its impact on health statusMethods: This cross-sectional study was conducted in Tehran in 1396. The study population included elderly people (60 years and older) who were referred to health houses in Tehran. A sample of 300 elderly people referred to health centers in 5 districts of Tehran was obtainedResults: The prevalence of food insecurity in the elderly was 25%, so that severe food insecurity, moderate food insecurity and mild food insecurity were reported as 5.7%, 5.7% and 13.7%, respectively. In this study, there was a significant correlation between food security and health status, nutritional status and anthropometric status (P <0.001). In the multiple stepwise regression modelConclusion: Elderly people who had better food security status had better health status, dietary diversity and anthropometric status. As a result, improving the nutritional status of the elderly will improve the quality of life and health of the elderly
