چکیده مقاله:

Background and Aim: Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is a chronic metabolic disease characterized by impaired glucose tolerance. Type 2 diabetes (T2D) is one of the most common metabolic diseases. Studies have found a better glycemic status following dietary management and physical activity including aqua aerobics. So, the aim of this study is to evaluate the effect of DASH dietary pattern and physical activity among patients with T2D.Methods: A parallel randomized clinical trial was undertaken on 64 type 2 diabetic patients for 8 weeks. The patients were randomly selected to go on a control group (CG), DASH diet group (DG), aerobic group (AG) and dash diet with aerobic diet (DG+AG). Before and after 8 weeks of intervention, anthropometric variable, oxidative stress and glycemic indices were measure. Results: DASH diet alone and also in combination with aerobic exercise and aerobic alone in comparison to control group led to a change in body weight was -1.2, -2.8, -1.8 and 1.2 kg, waist circumference (WC) -1, -2.1, -1.5 and +0.03 cm, systolic BP –1.5, -2.1, -2.3 and -0.5 mmHg, diastolic BP -1,-1.3,-1.2 and -1, fasting blood sugar (FBS) -5.82, -9.84, -4.53, and 3.11 mg / dL and HbA1C was -0.45, -1.2, -0.9 and +0.05, respectively. These changes were significant in DG+AG, and in terms of inter-group differences, there were significant differences between DG+AG with others. However, no significant effect has been existing in MDA in any group. Conclusion: The DASH diet and aerobic exercise together had most beneficial effects among diabetic patients.
