چکیده مقاله:
In this research the combustion of carbon monoxide in a laboratory -scale fluidized bed was modeled using the two -phase fluidization theory . In the proposed model the bed is devided to a couple of elements in series so that gas flow in bubble phase and in emulsion phase can be considered as plug and completely mixed , respectively . also for bubble break -up and freeboard zones, proper flow patterns were selected.regarding the hindering effect of sands upon chain reactions during combustion of hydrocarbons in fluidized beds, several models have been presented. in this work , a model with two elementary reaction rate equations for bubble and emulsion phases was applied hydrodynamic and kinetic models were coupled to obtain a model by which the calculationof gas conversion along the bed was possible. the results from the model and that of experimental data were compared and a relatively good agreement was observed . using this model it was showed that a considerable percentage of the combustion process was carried out in the bubble phase and the solid phase has a great hindering effect on the combustion.
