‍Corrosion Protection Evaluation of Several Industrial Coatings used as internal liners in petroleum trnsmission pipelines

Organic polymeric materials have long been cosidered as economical and durable pipe coatings , this is due to their good corrosion resistance imperviously to water resistance to salinity immunity to large varition in PH and chemical and physical stabilities at moderately high temperature . among coating those based on epoxies have good resestance to moist hydrocarbons. in this present study short and longterm tests have been performed on three epoxy - based coatings applied on steel panels in order to determine their corrosion behavior in crude oil and water environment. the laboratory experiments carried out in this project can be divided into wet and dry analysis. the wet experiments consisting of immersion NACE,type A; autoclave and impedance measurements were conducted to measure water uptake permeation and stability of coating under high pressure and temperature. also the dry tests incuding surface hardness , scratch and bending resistance providing information about adhesion and bonding of the coating to the substrate , resistance to cracking delamination or other mechanical damage as a result of bending were carried out.
