چکیده مقاله:

By extending of natural gas consumption as a clean energy, deploying of an advanced monitor and control system is obligatory task for gas delivering companies. There are several issues in today’s outdated natural gas grid, one of the main issues deal with efficiency. By implementing of smart grid in the natural gas distribution network, consumer and supplier of natural gas get daily date for improving their consume and product strategy respectively. The republic Islamic of Iran has the world s second largest reserves after Russia, the total urban and rural natural gas distribution network is more than 300,000 km. This huge gas grid supplies gas to about 21 million industrial, commercial units households and about 69 power generation plants. Therefore, the potential and opportunities are immense as natural gas has been identified as the fuel of the future and Iran holds the key to realizing this. The major lacunae, and chance, still lies in the area of smart grid investment and technological support for improving of natural gas delivering sector. In a widespread research, smart grid based on Internet of thing (IoT) is suggested for natural gas distribution network, other communication technologies for implementation of smart grid have been studied too, and finally with regard of the opportunities and challenges of IoT application in smart grid, the pilot project will be executed in near future. In this paper, the mentioned steps for choosing IoT in the smart grid are presented.
