چکیده مقاله:

Peace has been at the forefront of human consciousness from very early in our existence on Earth, yet it has eluded us for most of our history, except for sporadic truces. In the 21st century, the subject of peace, or the lack of it, has reached a crucial level of urgency for the very survival of mankind. Many authors are sounding the alarm, but none more than the world renowned Professor Emeritus of linguistics and philosophy, Dr. Noam Chomsky, and author of numerous best-selling political works. One of these, Who Rules the World brings to the forefront the shift in eras from survival to existential peril. Dr. Chomsky separates the history of Homo Sapiens into two eras: BNW (before nuclear weapons) and NWE (the nuclear weapons era). The latter era, of course, opened on August 6, 1945, the first day of the countdown to what may be the inglorious end to this strange species, which attained the intelligence to discover the effective means to destroy itself, but— so the evidence suggests—not the moral and intellectual capacity to control its own worst instincts.
