Research And Development Management In Universities Of India: An Exploratory Study Of Selected Universities InKerala

In this globalization era the world has accepted the development and importance of Knowledgeeconomy. Innovative research and development are the key supporting factor for a nation‟s economicgrowth and development. In many countries attention is given to highly skilled human resources whosupport the growth of Knowledge society. The territory sectors education and research anddevelopment in universities playing a pivotal role. The quality of research work and their contributionto the regional and national development and the increasing number of workforce participation inresearch education is major concern among the policy makers of India. The paper examines researchand development participation of university research departments to the Knowledge based economyas a resultant innovation for the development of India as well as the state of Kerala. The study isbased on the primary data collected from five universities of Kerala on scientific and innovativeresearch participation of students in science and social science academic discipline. And it is anattempt to find out the gap of current research system and suggest various policy measures in researcheducation to improve the existing condition of Universities of Kerala
