Assessing the significance of production, a frim perspective and regional implications

This paper focuses on the role of production opreations within firms and regions. It is found that whilst there is incearsing prassure for firms to offshore and outsource their activties, there is only a poor understanding of the longer- term implications of these movements in theory and practice. definitions and conceptualisations of production remain abstract and contradictory, and available tools and frameworks for assessing these implications are limited.
