A class of selection procedures based on 2-stage selection procedure for selecting the population with least dispersive distribution

In this paper, general possible goals for ranking and selection procedures are formally introduced. Then a class of selection procedures for selecting the least dispersive distribution from the k (k 2) available distributions has been proposed. Let Xiji j= 1, …, k; j=1, …, n , be random samples from the k populations. The proposed 2-stage selection procedures to meet the goals are: (a) selecting population associated with the least dispersive distribution and (b) to select a random size subset ‘s’ of k (k≥2) populations which contains the population with least dispersive distribution.
