Factors associated with ethical Challenge in embryo donation from donor’s perspective

Background: Embryo donors’ perspective as one of the major components in assisted reproductive therapies could be a foundation adopting policies and decisions regarding embryo donation. This study aimed at determining the ethical issues and associated factors in embryo donation from perspective of donors Methods: This descriptive-analytical study was carried out among 96 couples visiting Isfahan Fertility and Infertility Center and Royan Institute in 2016. Participants were recruited using convenience sampling method. An embryo donation ethical issues questionnaire developed by the researcher based on the four principles of bioethics was used. Data analysis was performed by SPSS software, 16 using Pearson and Spearman correlation tests, independent t-test and One-Way ANOVA.Result: Data showed that justice was considered as a more important ethical challenge in embryo donation from donors’ point of view as compared to other factors. A significant inverse association between educational level of female donors and ethical challenge score in justice principle (p Conclusion: Based on the results, it is suggested that ethical-legal guidelines are developed considering factors such as the minimum interests of donors, regulations, experiences and new policies in countries providing these services, religious and cultural norms in the society and needs and interests of involved individuals especially the resultant child.
