چکیده مقاله:
Due to low heat capacity of the air, however, the performance of dry cooling tower is highly affected by environmental conditions, especially wind condition and the air temperature. A three-dimensional study on the thermal performance of a natural-draft dry-cooling tower (NDDCT) under various crosswind and air temperature conditions is conducted using the viscous Navier-Stokes equations to simulate airflow in and around an NDDCT. From the numerical simulations it has been confirmed that crosswind velocity and air temperature has a great effect on the thermal performance of the NDDCT. Crosswind could degrade the thermal effectiveness, ε th , by more than 30% at crosswind velocity of 15ms -1 and in the same manner 20-35% at 288-300K air temperature variations. The calculated result is between the design and the measured value, and the difference is about 6%.
