چکیده مقاله:

In this paper. the effects of different foam production times and temperatures on the flcxural and morphological properties of polypropylene (PP) foam are investigated.Solid PP samples were prepared using the melt- compounding technique in a twin-screw extruder and then the microcellular PP foams was carried out in a batch process by using supercritical carbon dioxide (sc-CO3) as a physical foaming agent. In order to optimize the foam production temperature and time, llextual test samples were saturated in a pressure vessel with carbon dioxide at room temperature (23—25°C) and saturation pressure of 40 MPa for 24 hours. Then, the pressure was released and the samples were immersed in a glycerin bath for different times of 90, 180 and 270 seconds and different temperatures of 155°C. 165°C and 175°C. Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) was used to assess the fracture surface morphology. The cell structure, cell size and cell density of PP foams were investigated and explained by combining the blend phase morphology and morphological parameters. Simultaneous examination of flexural test results, morphological and cell structure properties show that the best temperature and time conditions for producing PP foam are the temperature of 175°C and time of 270 seconds, respectively. These optimum conditions can be used in the production of PP foam by the physical method for industrial applications.
