New Complex Based on Zn(II) and Quinoline: A Supra Precursor for Fabrication of ZnO Nanoparticles

چکیده مقاله:

Quinolines and their derivativesplay an important role in a variety of pharmacologically activesynthetic and natural compounds such as antimalaria drug [1], effective against the parasitesLeishmania, effective against the protozoan parasite Trypanosoma cruzyas agent of Chagas’disease as well as for a number of other diseases [2,3]. On the other hand, the synthesisof many antibiotics and anti-tumors is based on quinoline derivatives. In this study, a newcomplex of [Zn(NCS)4].2(C9H8N) 1 has beensuccessfully synthesized by sonochemical irradiationandstructurally characterized by single crystal X-ray diffraction. In the crystal latticeof complex 1, the [Zn(NCS)4]2- complex anion are stacked in hexagonal-like columns forming2D layers, each column includes an organic chain formed from one of [C9H8N]+ organic cationswhere the other cation separates between layers. Magnetic studies at room temperaturereveal that complex 1 is a weak ferromagnet.Complex 1 was used as a precursor for the preparationof ZnO nanoparticles with an average particles size of 50 nm by a thermal decompositionprocess.
