Study the Corrosion Performance of Carbon steel powder coated by Solid Epoxy resins containing Clay nanoparticles

Powder coating is a dry paint without any solvent, which is applied by the fluidized-bed coating [1] or electrostatic coating [2]. The epoxy powder coating is widely used for its excellentchemical stability and good adhesion to substrates. However, epoxy resin is brittle after crosslinking [3, 4]. Many researcheshave attempted to improve the toughness of epoxy resin [4]. In 2004, Zhang et al produced nanocomposite epoxy/ silicatelayer and illustrated increase in nanocomposite impact andtensile strength to the respective amounts of 87.7 and 20.9% only adding 3wt% silicate layers. Also, the dynamicmechanical properties were improved [5]. In 2005, Q. Shi et al produced nanocomposite epoxy/CaCO3 [6]. In 2006, they applied powder coating technique and ultimately improved the mechanical properties and metal corrosion resistance [7].
