Performance Evaluation guidelines of aged Silicone Insulators in Area of Iran

The aging is a major problem of silicone insulators now-a-days. The main thing in aging is to predict how and when it occurs. Under what conditions it can lead to failure and which test procedure can guide users to estimate the expected life of a silicone insulator. The purpose of this study is to provide a guideline to determine if a silicone insulator needs to be replaced or not. The information and decisions contained in the guideline come from incorporating theory, test data, and the experience of NRI utilities. In this project life time expectancy of any aged silicone rubber insulator will be assessed via electrical, mechanical, and chemical laboratory test and service condition analysis and next time assessment will be verified
