ECONOMICAL, SOCIAL & ENVIRONMENTAL EFFECTS & CONSEQUENCES OF DEVELOPMENT OF RURAL TOURISM

Despite many problems for development of villages in Iran, and sometimes lack of necessary potential for the development of agriculture and industry sectors, tourism can play an important role in boosting the rural economy and it can be considered as an effective step for rural development. This new industry in rural areas can lead to development, expansion of employment, use of infrastructure services by rural communities, diversification of the local economy, development of knowledge and excellence of the character of rural communities, increase the number of villagers, increase motivation to participate, prevent immigration, improve behavior and respect for the environment, protection of the historic environment, wildlife, and natural landscapes. In addition, some negative consequences of development of rural tourism are the increasing the cost of public services, increasing land prices and commodity, dependence of local communities on specific services, inappropriate social behaviors, overcrowding and congestion in rural areas, damage to the natural environment, increasing levels of pollution in rural areas and excessive consumption of resources
