A Content Analysis of Sciences Coursebooks in Regard with Conservation of the Environment at Elementary Schools in 2013-14 School Year

چکیده مقاله:
The present research deals with the place of the environment and its protection in the content of elementary schools sciences coursebooks. This is an applied research drawing upon the content analysis for the methodology. The statistical population includes elementary schools sciences coursebooks in 2013-14 school year. The data collection instrument is made up of the content analysis table. The data have been analyzed using the descriptive method (frequency table, percentage and mean) and examined according to the predicted objectives and proposed questions in the research. At first, with the literature review of the environment protection and the related books, 13 concepts have been selected to be put in the content analysis table and after the analysis using the related tables, it was determined that 289 out of whole content of the experimental sciences books were concerned with the environment concepts; out of which 39%, 33% and 28% have been presented textually, in questions and pictorially respectively. The concepts concerned with the environmental protection in experimental sciences books of the grade 6 lack strong horizontal and vertical relationships.
