Investigation of RC frame with irregularities of disconnected lateral load system under explosion loading

Reinforced concrete (RC) structures are widely used in civil engineering due to economical, atmospheric and fire resistance. In this type of structure, because of architectural considerations such as the entry of parking on the ground floor or the possibility of opening it in the middle of the floors, structural designers, as a solution, usually transfer the shear wall to adjacent spans. This displacement of the shear wall, if it is larger than the length of the wall, causes the structure to be irregular and normally the columns in this location are critical. It is important to study this kind of system against other loads, such as the explosion loading, which is analyzed in this paper by using Abaqus software. For this aim, an explosion loading with masses of 50, 100 and 200 kilograms were applied to the structure at a distance of 5 meters and it was observed that due to explosion loading, stresses in the columns increased. Then the column in the location of moved wall has strengthened using carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP), and it was observed that the maximum rebar von Mises stresses is reduced from 299.3 to 2642.9 MPa. Also, by comparing the load-displacement diagram between normal and irregular frame, it is observed that normal frame has a more rigid behavior.
