INVESTIGATING THE INTERACTIONS, CONSEQUENCES AND WORK DONE ON WOMEN S ADDICTION FROM THE VIEWPOINT OF ACTORS IN THE EXECUTIVE AGENCIES OF MASHHAD

Background and Aim : About 10 percent of the country s addicts are women.Women are less likely to use illicit drugs than men, but by starting to use drugs, women will be addicted more quickly than men and experience negative outcomes sooner. Methods : The purpose of this study was to investigate the interactions, consequences and work done on women s addiction from the point of view of the actors of executive agencies and service providers in the field of prevention and treatment of addiction in Mashhad. The method is qualitative and in the process of research, grounded theory has been used. The data was collected using a deep interview technique. Based on theoretical sampling method and theoretical saturation criterion, 17 people from executive agencies and service providers in the field of prevention and treatment of addiction were interviewed in Mashhad.Results : The results obtained from the classification by the field theory method consist of eight major categories as follows: Social learning and coping pressure, family stress, weakness of the control system (self-control and social control), lack of post-traumatic care system and improved treatment centers, awareness and education for the prevention of addiction, culture through various institutions, addiction treatment centers of Non Govermental Organizations, the prevalence and addiction trends. The core category is The rising trend of women s addiction due to structural pressures and inconsistencies of service providers. Conclusion : Findings show that the women s addiction phenomenon has been developing beyond the means and resources necessary to overcome and control it. There is no clear agreement between the executive agencies in the area of providing treatment services, harm reduction and support, and the aspects of social work and social services to prevent the phenomenon of addiction and treatment of women have not been well-enforced.
