چکیده مقاله:

Background and Aim : Impulsivity is one of the most important causes of drug use. Studies have shown that behavioral treatments can reduce impulsivity in drug users. Studies have also shown a significant relationship between impulsivity and Mindfulness. Thus, this studies purpose is Effectiveness of Mindfulness-Based Relapse Prevention (MBRP) in Methadone-Treated Patients: Determine the mediating role of impulsivity in Relapse prevention. Methods : : This study was done in Tehran. The study population was opioid-dependent patients referred to MMT Centers. 65 patients were selected by random sampling and were assigned in two groups (MBRP and control) randomly. The participants filled out Barratt impulsivity scale (BIS-11) as a pre-test and as post-test (8 weeks later). The intervention group received 8 sessions of MBRP, while the control group did not receive any group psychotherapy session. Finally, data from 59patients were analyzed statistically. Results : The MBRP group score had decreased impulsivity significantly (P < 0.001). The mean impulsivity score was 69.76 ± 3.28 before intervention that was significantly decreased to 54.81 ± 3.38 (P < 0.001), respectively. Conclusion : This study showed that Mindfulness-based intervention can decrease the impulsivity level in opioid-dependent and reduce relapse probability. These findings suggest that Mindfulness-based interventions is useful for opioid-dependent patient.
