چکیده مقاله:

Background and Aim : Background: Substance abuse disorder is a social issue that is becoming noticeably more common among women. Given women s vulnerability in society, mental and social services are essential to increasing the odds of successful treatment of this disorder. This article reports casework with a strength-based model based on case management approach with one client of the Land of the Sun NGO. Case: In this study, a 45-year-old woman who abused crystal meth for five years is discussed. She, because of substance abuse, had to battle several social and familial issues. Despite her tireless efforts, she could not find a decent job. While battling the hardships of substance addiction, she lost all her furniture, her 19-year-old son was arrested, her 21-year-old daughter was murdered by a drug cartel and her two other daughters were kept in a welfare organization since her guardianship was taken from her because of her substance addiction. She also had a failed suicide attempt and had once been under arrest for drug possession. With a quick assessment, she was identified with problems meticulously listed as exclusion by her family and society, an unsafe living environment, poor welfare, unemployment and lack of amenities to protect and provide for her children. The social worker did this case work through engagement, assessment, planning, intervention, termination, and evaluation stages. vocational rehabilitation, psychological, social, economic, psychotherapeutic, and dental support, life skills and anger management teachings and referral to other supportive resources were done for two years as the intervention. The client has been in touch with the Land of the Sun NGO through being employed in its outreach patrol and has been followed up on accordingly. Conclusions: using a strength-based perspective model and case management approach not only prevented the client from considering herself as a victim of problems but also made her consider them as an opportunity to grow and find some capabilities within herself which were not visible from the beginning. Based on this model, the client can return to society and increase her social participation.
