Microstrip lowpass filter with sharp roll-off and wide stopband

A microstrip lowpass filter with very sharp roll-off and wide stopband is proposed in this paper. The structure consists of tapered and triangular patches as the resonator and Pshaped and U-shaped patches as suppressing cells. The proposed filter has -3dB cutoff frequency at 1.64 GHz and it has also otheradvantages such as: wide stopband bandwidth from 1.78 GHz to 22.46 GHz (for the insertion-loss more than -20 dB), sharp rolloffof 203, low insertion-loss and high return-loss in the pass band
