Background: Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs) are a common health problem in many countries around the world, especially in developing countries. Today due to the side effects of chemical drugs with increasing drug resistance, this study was performed to the study of traditional medicine on the treatment of vaginitis and sexually transmitted infections.Methods: This article is a review article with search on sites such as PubMed, SID, EMBASE, Scopus, Google scholar and Magiran. Articles coordinated with the specified criteria collected from 2010 to 2018 and reported in a paper.Results: The studies showed that Pelarqonium and Allium stipitatum have anti-Trichomonas effect. Cold-water extracts of onion prevents Candida Albicans growth and the methanol extract of Myrtus and Rhus Coriaria have a high inhibitory effect on Candida Albicans yeast. Securigera securidac seed has an inhibitory effect on the proliferation of Type 2 herpes simplex virus. Essence and extract of Thymus vulgaris and Origanum vulgare have very high anti-candida activity. The combination of aqueous extracts of Viola odorata and Ruta graveolens have a total inhibitory effect on Trichomonas vaginalis. Toucrium Polium smoke, methanol extract of Plumbago, Black nightshade and Glycyrrhiza glabra have antifungal activity. Zataria essential oils, Geranium and Artemisia have anti-Candida and anti-Trichomoniasis effects and in cases of resistance to Azul group drugs and recurrent infections are very effective. Hypericum perforatum L. is effective in the treatment of patients with bacterial vaginosis and also reduce their complaints, and its extract has potent effects on the herpes simplex virus type 1 and 2 and the HIV virus. Propolis has an anti-Gardeneric, anti-Trichomoniasis and anti-Candida effect and can be used to treat cervicitis.Conclusion: The results show that, due to limitations in the treatment of sexually transmitted infections such as side effects of drugs and drug resistance, medicinal herbs can be a good alternative to chemical drugs.
