چکیده مقاله:

Milk thistle (Silybum marianum L.) is an excellent source of Silymarin that used as an antioxidant and display hepatoxic protection properties1. The effects of independents variables in terms of extraction time, temperature, solvent ratio and amount of polymeron the Silymarin yield were determined and the optimal conditions were evaluated by means of response surface methodology.This study compares the extraction of defattedand undefatted Milk thistle seeds by Acetone solvent and it has reported the effective parameters in this stage. Parameters to obtain the highest total phenolic yield were time duration of 3h, temperature of 56 °C and Acetone 90% as solvent concentration. On the other hand the average experimental Silymarin yield under the optimum conditions was found to be 30.04 % which agree with the predictedvalue of 28.80% by Design Expert (ver 8.0.1) Polyethylene glycol has been successfully used toimprove the aqueous solubility of Silymarin. This method has not been reported yet. With this procedure after adding the polymer, solubility increased significantly0.06 % to 30%.
