چکیده مقاله:

This study explored the difference between novice and experienced Iranian EFL teachers’ perception toward speaking instruction. The study was conducted with twenty novice and experienced teachers at Alborz and Technical complex institute in Noor Mazandaran, Iran. Data were collected through questionnaire which was administered to teachers to measure their perceptions toward speaking instruction. The questionnaire had 12 items. When the two groups were compared, novice and experienced teachers were found to differ in their perception. The test allowed us to distinguish some difference between novice and experienced teachers’ perception through speaking instruction. Findings showed that more experienced teachers used an action plan to search for information more often, which means, more experienced teachers generally structure their action plans better than novice teachers. The results based on the findings showed the description of analysis of the two groups of experienced and inexperienced teachers. Then, the inferential analysis of data of the study was done. Independent samples t-test, Wald-type statistic test, and Chi-square were used to determine whether there would be any perceptual difference over teaching speaking between the experienced and inexperienced groups. The results indicate that there were some differences between the perceptions of these two groups. The findings provide some pedagogical implications for teachers and students to strengthen their teaching and learning practices.
