چکیده مقاله:

Micro-RNAs are a class of small(≈18-24 nucleotides) noncoding RNA molecules thatfunctioning as post-transcriptional suppressors of mRNA translation. Single nucleotidepolymorphism(SNPs) in miRNAs were found to be associated with wide range of cancers. AnA/G polymorphism(rs3746444) in the sequence of miR-499 can affect miRNA maturationprocess and hence contribute to cancer susceptibility. Accordingly miRNAs could be serveras biomarker in cancer researches and help to improve treatments. We retrieved publicationsfor miR-499 biomarker usefulness in cancer from PubMed. The database was queried bythese keywords: miR-499 , polymorphism , cancer and biomarker . Further we refinepublications to set premium to papers with well controlled strategy and large sample size. Ithas been shown that the rs3746444-G allele was associated with an increase in cancer riskcompared to the A allele. According to our results, miR-499 rs3746444 polymorphism isassociated with an increased cancer risk, especially in Asian population. Thus it couldserves as biomarker with diagnostic, prognostic and treatment response predictor andtherapeutic target.
