Gastric cancer is one of the most important causes of death by cancer around the world.. It has beenshown that the Helicobacter Pylori is one of the main factors in gastric cancer. Helicobacter Pylorialters some of the signaling pathways such as wnt/B-catenin, PI3K/AKI, Hedgehog, andJAK/STAT3which are inEolEed in tumor progression and EMT through CagA toxin. In present study aprobable correlation between H.Pylori and TWIST1 and MAML1 expression was assessed for the firsttime in gastric cancer patients. LeEels of TWIST1 and MAML1 mRLA expressions were studied in 73gastric cancer patients using the quantitiEe realtime PCR method. All the samples were alsochecked for detection of Helicobacter Pylori by PCR method. Statistical analysis was performed byspss22 software . 48 percentage and 15 percentage of patients showed TWIST1 oEerexpression andunder expression, respectiEely. Also 46.6 percentage and 16.4 percentage of patients showedMAML1 oEerexpression and under expression, respectiEely. for both genes TWIST1 and MAML1 wasobserEed 35 and 34 cases oEerexpression ,respesctiEely . Thirty four out of 73 cases wereHelicobacter Pylori positiEe. There was a significant correlation between expression of MAML1 andTWIST1 ( p-Ealue < 0.001). MoreoEer, there were significant correlations between MAML1 geneexpression and tumor grade ( p-Ealue= 0.006 ) and lymph node inEolEement ( p-Ealue < 0.001 ).There was not any significant correlation between the clinicopathological features of patients andTWIST1 expression. also there were not any significant correlation between H.Pylori infection andexpression changes of TWIST1 and MAML1 genes. There was a significant correlation betweenMAML1 gene expression and gastric cancer progression and metastasis . Whereas, H.Pylori haEe noeffect on the expression leEels of two studied genes.
