چکیده مقاله:

Anti-Thyroid peroxidase (Anti-TPO) is an autoantibody secreted by the thyroid gland, which is naturally measurable in small quantities in serum. According to the studies carried out, this autoantibody may be used as a marker of prognosis in breast cancer. Of This study the aims was to evaluate the relationship between Anti-TPO serum levels with prognostic factors in breast cancer and two-year survival ofpatients in Qaem hospital Mashhad Iran. To implement this project, 50 patients suffering from breast cancer who referred to Qaem Hospital in Mashhad during the years 2009-2010 were selected.Metastatic patients were excluded from the study and informed consent was obtained from all the patients. The serum levels of Anti-TPO was measured by Elisa Kit (monobind cristal company) Therelationship between the levels of Anti-TPO autoantibody with Estrogen Receptor(ER) , Progesterone Receptor(PR), Human Epidermal Cell Growth Factor Receptor 2 (HER-2), tumor grade and stage wasdetermined in addition to the relationship between these factors with two-year survival. Data was analyzed using SPSS software version 20 and P-value of less than 0.05 was considered significant. Themean serum level of Anti-TPO in patients was equal to 21.58 IU/mL which is within the normal range (less than 40 IU/mL). No significant relationship was found between Anti-TPO serum levels, tumorgrade (p-value=0/474), disease stage (p-value=0/507), ER (p-value=0/1), PR (p-value=1/000), HER-2 (p-value=1/000), two-year disease-free survival (p-value=0/379) and life status (p-value=0/351). Mostpatients were in stage 3a and low patients are in stage 4. Most patients are in grade 2 and least patients were in grade 1. According to the results obtained in this study, Anti-TPO serum levels had nosignificant relationship with any of the prognostic factors in breast cancer and two-year survival of patients including patients with and without the relapse of illness.
