چکیده مقاله:

Tenascins are a group of glycoproteins which are abundant in the special condition extracellular matrix(ECM) such as developing embryo and tumor. In some cases, tenascins expression increases andthis re-expression may occur in inflammation, regeneration or tumors. Glioblastoma(GBM) tumors are the most aggressive brain cancer and also the most common one after meningioma. Invasivenessdegree is the most prominent feature of glioblastoma tumors and tenascin C (TNC)is a determinant for this degree. Results show that TNC promotes glioblastoma invasiveness and brain tissue changes.Forexample, an study which has been done to investigate TNCs role on GBMs revealed that TNCs absence promoted GBM neurosphere cell adhesion and actin cytoskeleton organization but TNC reduction does not have any distinct impact on GBM neurosphere cells. The result of rodent model studies shows that decreasing TNC causes decreased tumor invasiveness and increases it proliferation Furthermore, other members of tenascins family have various impacts on the several aspects of glioblastoma biology.Overall, all of the studies have been done on this topic demonstrated understanding the mechanisms of TNCs impacts on GBMs with all of its details can lead to novel strategies for treating malignant brain tumors
