Multiport Modular Multilevel Converter for Multi-Terminal HVDC Applications

High voltage multiport converters with megawatt ratings can play the role of a universal substation in the future supergrid. Accordingly, this paper suggests a new transformerless multiport converter topology, to manage the flow of power through multiple dc transmission lines and the host ac systems at one connection point simultaneously.
