چکیده مقاله:

Background and Aim : The emphasis of self-management programs on addressing the needs of these patients, including the need for comfort is considered as a basic need, this study was done to determine the effect of self-management training on comfort of with candidate burn patients for skin grafting. Methods : This study was a clinical trial study with control group which was implemented at Shahid Motahari Burn Center affiliated to Iran University of Medical Sciences. The study samples consisted of 80 candidate burn patients for skin grafting (40 patients in intervention group and 40 patients in control group) who were selected by continuous sampling method and were divided into two groups of intervention and control by simple random method.Educational intervention was implemented by the researcher in the form of booklet as a lecture, question and answer and group discussion during two sessions before after skin grafting surgery for 30-45 minutes. Data collection tools included demographic information questionnaire, visual comfort scale questionnaire which were completed by patients before training and one month after intervention. The data were analyzed by software, version 16 and Chi-squared, Fisher s exact, independent t and paired t test and analysis of covariance at the significant level (α = 0.05). Results : the results showed that there was a significant difference between the frequency distribution of comfort level in the control and intervention group, there was a statistically significant difference, before the intervention (p = 0.02) and after it (p = 0.030). Regarding the frequency percentage of comfort levels in the control and intervention group before and after the intervention, the level of comfort in the intervention group has been more increased compared to the control group. Conclusion : Attention and control of comfort in burn patients is one of the essential elements of their care. According to the results of this study, it can be suggested that self-management training is used to increase their comfort .
